Technische Universität München
The Technische Universität München" (TUM) is one of Münchens two large universities. It is home of all engineering faculties in München, and, in addition, includes faculties for the natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science, but also medicine and other life sciences.

TUM's history is closely connected with the names of a lot of famous scientists like Rudolf Diesel, Claude Dornier, Carl von Linde, Wilhelm Messerschmidt, Wilhelm Nusselt, Hans Piloty, Friedrich von Thiersch, and Heinrich Wieland.
Today, about 20,000 students from all over the world are enrolled at the TUM, making it one of Germany's most renowned universities for science and engineering.
TUM's campuses
The faculties of TUM are located on three different campuses:
- the main campus (site plan) in the city centre is home to the faculties of civil engineering, architecture, electrical engineering, and economics; it is home to the Master's program "Computational Mechanics".
- the research area in Garching (site plan), about 20 km northeast of the city centre, hosts the faculties of physics, chemistry, and mechanical engineering. Since August 2002, it is also the new home of the faculties of mathematics and computer science, and therefore home to the Master's program "Computational Science and Engineering", as well.
- finally, the campus Weihenstephan (site plan) (agriculture and horticulture, brewing, food technology and dairy science, forest science) is located in the city of Freising, about 40 km northeast of München;
Furthermore, the university hospital "Rechts der Isar" hosts the faculty of medicine, and the faculty of sports science is located in the Olympic park.
